Last updated: March 6, 2026
1. Introduction
The Money Map ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our web application and mobile application (collectively, the "Service"). Please read this privacy policy carefully. If you do not agree with the terms of this privacy policy, please do not access the Service.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Personal Information
When you create an account, we collect information that can be used to identify you, including your name and email address. This information is provided through our authentication provider (Manus OAuth) and is necessary to provide you with a personalized experience.
2.2 Financial Data
To provide our core services, we collect and store financial information that you voluntarily enter, including transaction records (amounts, categories, dates, notes), budget limits and categories, savings goals and progress, debt information (balances, interest rates, payment amounts), and bill reminder details. This data is entered manually by you and is not automatically collected from your bank accounts or financial institutions.
2.3 Usage Data
We automatically collect certain information when you access the Service, including device type, browser type, operating system, pages visited, time spent on pages, and general usage patterns. This data is collected through privacy-respecting analytics (Umami) and does not include personally identifiable information.
2.4 Payment Information
If you subscribe to our premium plan, payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe, Inc. We do not store your credit card numbers, CVV codes, or full payment details on our servers. We only retain your Stripe customer ID and subscription status to manage your account.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to provide, maintain, and improve the Service, including displaying your financial dashboard, generating budget reports, calculating debt payoff strategies, and providing AI-powered financial insights. We also use your information to process transactions and manage your subscription, send you notifications about bill reminders, budget alerts, and savings tips (based on your preferences), respond to your comments, questions, and requests, monitor and analyze usage trends to improve the Service, and detect, prevent, and address technical issues and security threats.
4. AI-Powered Features
Our Service includes AI-powered features that analyze your financial data to provide personalized insights and recommendations. This analysis is performed on our secure servers and your data is not shared with third-party AI providers in a way that identifies you personally. The AI processes aggregated transaction patterns to generate spending insights, budget recommendations, and savings tips. You can opt out of AI-powered features at any time through your account settings.
5. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share your information only in the following circumstances: with Stripe for payment processing (subject to Stripe's privacy policy), with service providers who assist in operating our Service (subject to confidentiality agreements), if required by law, regulation, or legal process, to protect the rights, property, or safety of The Money Map, our users, or others, and in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets (with prior notice to users).
6. Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal information, including encryption of data in transit (TLS/SSL) and at rest, secure authentication via OAuth 2.0, regular security assessments and updates, access controls limiting data access to authorized personnel, and secure cloud infrastructure with automated backups. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with the Service. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal, accounting, or regulatory purposes. Anonymized and aggregated data that cannot identify you may be retained indefinitely for analytical purposes.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information, including the right to access the personal data we hold about you, the right to request correction of inaccurate data, the right to request deletion of your data, the right to export your data in a portable format (available via our CSV export feature), the right to opt out of marketing communications, and the right to withdraw consent for data processing. To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the information provided below.
9. Cookies and Tracking
We use essential cookies to maintain your authentication session and remember your preferences (such as theme and currency settings). We use Umami, a privacy-focused analytics tool, which does not use cookies and does not collect personally identifiable information. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or tracking pixels.
10. Children's Privacy
The Service is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete such information promptly.
11. International Data Transfers
Your information may be transferred to and maintained on servers located outside of your state, province, country, or other governmental jurisdiction where data protection laws may differ. By using the Service, you consent to the transfer of your information to such locations.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes. Changes to this Privacy Policy are effective when they are posted on this page.
